Cyclone Melissa is projected to escalate to a uncommon Category 5 storm as it shifts towards the Caribbean island, causing deadly rapid inundation and mudslides.

The cyclone, which recorded wind speeds of up to 120 mph as of 6:00 AM GMT, is now shifting north-west in the Caribbean region and is expected to hit the coast by early next week, based on data from hurricane specialists.

Advisories of electricity outages and disruption to utilities have been issued as this storm produces up to 30 inches of rain and storm surges as high as thirteen feet above typical tides. "Seek shelter now," inhabitants have been told.
